The best events in Prague

Designblok 2026 is one of Central Europe’s largest design and fashion festivals, bringing together contemporary design, architecture, fashion, art, installations and emerging designers. The festival attracts up to 50,000 visitors each year. This year’s theme is “Light,” exploring light not only through design and technology, but also as a symbol of knowledge, hope and life.

The festival takes place at major Prague venues including Veletržní palác, Průmyslový palác, Prague Castle and the Museum of Decorative Arts, with around 50 galleries, showrooms and design venues participating across the city.

Signal Festival is Prague’s annual celebration of light, digital art and creative technology, transforming the city’s streets, historic buildings and public spaces into unique artistic experiences. The 2026 theme, “Dream On! Dreams and Visions,” brings together 21 installations featuring light, video mapping, digital art, sound and interactive technology.

The festival introduces a new Dejvice route alongside the traditional city-centre route. 13 installations are free, while 8 are part of the paid Signal INSIDE programme. The programme also includes Signal Forum, workshops and evening events.

Day of Architecture is a great event to experience alongside Designblok, with a focus on Prague’s architecture, urban development and history rather than product and interior design. Taking place across Prague and other Czech cities, the festival aims to make architecture accessible to the general public.

The 2026 theme, “I live, therefore I am”, explores housing from historical residential architecture to contemporary design, urban development and affordable housing. Highlights include guided tours of Prague’s architectural landmarks, such as Molochov in Letná, a striking Functionalist residential complex, as well as tours exploring Prague’s housing estates and their architectural significance.

Negroni Week is a worldwide celebration of the iconic Negroni cocktail. Rather than taking place at one location, participating bars and restaurants serve the classic Negroni and create their own variations, while supporting Slow Food and charitable causes.

The classic Negroni is made with equal parts gin, Campari and sweet vermouth. Founded by Imbibe Magazine in 2013, the event has grown into a global celebration involving thousands of venues and has raised more than $5 million for charity. Guests can discover creative variations such as the Classic Negroni, Kingston Negroni and Coffee Negroni, making it a great opportunity to explore Prague’s cocktail scene while enjoying a drink for a good cause.

Prague Coffee Festival is the largest coffee festival in the Czech Republic, bringing together coffee enthusiasts, professional baristas, roasters and members of the international coffee community. The 2026 edition will take place at the Křižík Pavilions at Výstaviště Praha in Holešovice.Visitors can discover more than 50 Czech and international coffee roasters and taste a wide selection of specialty coffees. Coffee tastings are included in the festival ticket, allowing guests to explore different beans, roasting styles and brewing methods.

The festival offers more than just coffee tasting, with a programme featuring: Coffee tastings from various roasters, Cuppings – guided tastings comparing different coffees, Workshops focused on coffee preparation and brewing techniques.

Prague Art Week is a four-day celebration of contemporary art that brings together galleries, museums, private collections, independent art spaces, and artists from across Prague. The 2026 edition is bringing together around 40 art institutions and approximately 100 events throughout the city.

The event offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover Prague’s vibrant contemporary art scene beyond its traditional museums. Throughout the week, guests can explore exhibitions, installations, guided tours, artist studios, talks, and special events taking place at various locations across Prague.

Vladimír Houdek: The Third Landscape is a contemporary painting exhibition taking place at Kampus Hybernská.

Inspired by the Romantic landscapes of Caspar David Friedrich, the exhibition explores the relationship between people, landscape, memory and time. Houdek combines abstract and figurative elements to create a space between reality and imagination, inviting visitors to pause and experience the paintings from their own perspective.

The exhibition is also part of Prague Art Week, with a special guided tour led by the artist and curator on 26 September.

Fotograf Zone Festival is an international festival of contemporary photography and visual art, taking place at various locations across Prague.

This year’s edition, Wild Kin, explores relationships between people, nature, animals and technology through photography and contemporary art. The programme includes exhibitions, installations, artist talks, guided tours, workshops and other special events.

One of the highlights is a solo exhibition by German conceptual photographer Jochen Lempert, presented in Prague for the first time. The festival is an excellent choice for guests interested in photography, contemporary art, design and visual culture.

Terra Incognita examines how technology influences the way we see and understand the world. It explores the role of cameras, mapping tools and measuring devices, showing that these technologies do more than simply document reality. RestaurantWeek is a city-wide culinary festival that brings together more than 100 restaurants across Prague and the Czech Republic. Piano Legends Unite is a jazz concert series held at the historic Reduta Jazz Club in central Prague, celebrating the music of three of the most influential jazz pianists of all time: Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Oscar Peterson. The concert is presented as a tribute to these legendary musicians, with contemporary artists performing their iconic compositions and drawing inspiration from their distinctive styles.

The setting at Reduta makes the experience particularly special. Founded in 1958, it is one of Prague’s historic jazz venues and is renowned for its intimate, retro atmosphere and excellent acoustics. The club also features a Petrof concert piano, adding to the authentic character of the evening.

Classical, Film & Popular Music at St. Nicholas Church offers a delightful evening of classical favourites, popular melodies and well-known film music in the stunning Baroque setting of St. Nicholas Church on Old Town Square.
