Mezipatra Queer Film Festival
The 27th edition of the Mezipatra Queer Film Festival is one of the Czech Republic’s leading film festivals dedicated to LGBTQ+ and queer cinema. It presents a diverse selection of international feature films, short films, documentaries and experimental works, exploring themes such as relationships, identity, family and contemporary society.
The festival has become an established part of Prague’s cultural scene and includes an international competition with awards for feature films, short films and an audience award. Screenings take place at several central cinemas, including Kino Lucerna, Kino Světozor, Edison Filmhub and Kino 35.
St. Martin on the Charles Bridge
St. Martin’s Day is celebrated every year on 11 November and traditionally marks the transition from autumn to winter. In Czech culture, it is associated with roast goose, young wine and the first snow of the season.
The tradition dates back centuries, when the agricultural year came to an end and people gathered for a festive feast. Today, it remains a popular Czech gastronomic and cultural tradition.
At 11:11 a.m., St. Martin arrives on a white horse, accompanied by geese and Roman soldiers. The procession crosses Charles Bridge and continues to Křižovnické Square, where visitors can enjoy a medieval-style market with traditional St. Martin’s specialities and young wines.
French Film Festival
The French Film Festival is an annual celebration of French cinema in the Czech Republic, organised by the French Institute in Prague since 1996. It presents a diverse programme of contemporary French films, international festival highlights and classic works, offering audiences a glimpse into the richness of French filmmaking.
Highlights include premieres of new releases, retrospectives honouring influential filmmakers, the Short Film Night showcasing emerging talent, and the Czech Critics’ Choice featuring films recognised by local critics.
