The Summer Shakespeare Festival is the oldest and largest open-air Shakespeare festival in Europe. Each summer, it takes place in Prague with major performances held at Prague Castle. The festival is dedicated to the works of his and features evening performances throughout the summer in an outdoor setting. Its unique atmosphere comes from combining live theatre with the historic surroundings of the castle.
The programme includes well-known plays such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth. Performances are presented in both Czech and English, sometimes with subtitles and international theatre companies.
